Obituary of Philip Albert Ermel
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Philip Ermel on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the age of 88. Philip was born at Cupar, SK on June 14, 1930 to Louis and Caroline Ermel. He was raised on the family farm with his 12 other siblings. On June 2, 1962, Philip married Carol Ulrich in Markinch, SK and they settled in the town of Cupar, where he worked for the Federated Coop. Farming and service to others was never far from Philip’s mind. After work and on weekends he would help relatives with their farming operations and also tended to “his own fields”, being his large garden in town, which he took pride in. Philip was a tireless worker and would not hesitate to help out and pitch in for family, friends and neighbours. He had a passion for hockey, curling and baseball and would watch it live or on TV whenever he could. Philip was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Mary Schwartz, Wilhelmina Posehn and Eleanor Lipinski; brothers Henry, John, William, Rudy and Reinhold Ermel. Philip is survived and loved by his wife Carol; son Mark (Kerri) Ermel and grandsons Evan, Chase and Mason Ermel. A Celebration of Philip’s life will take place at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cupar, SK. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to make donations in memory of Philip may do so to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 427, Cupar, SK, S0G 0Y0.
