Obituary of Patricia Beck

Patricia Beck (nee Sigethy) Patricia Beck passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2016, surrounded by family. Patty was born in Kipling, on August 16, 1960. She is predeceased by grandparents Jack & Ethel Knoblauch, Geza & Lena Sigethy and Aunt Pearl. She is survived by her husband Mark, parents Elaine & Ron, brother Gregg, sisters Pam and Jackie, niece and nephews Ally, Jarod, Brett, Cale, Jacob, Nathan and Sam, to whom she was like a second mom, Aunts Betty Jean and Jean and many other uncles and cousins and last, but not least, her current family of kitties, Lucy, Molly, Buddy and Fritz. Patty poured her whole heart into everything she did. She was a teacher, teaching grades 1 to 3, mostly at Herchmer, Wascana and Elsie Mironuck schools. She loved and was loved by her students. Patty loved animals. She spent many years volunteering for the Humane Society and she was a founding member of People for Animals. She spent many, many hours on rescue and feeding missions for stray, feral and abused cats and dogs. Patty battled cancer for many years, originally diagnosed in 1998. But cancer had no hold over her and she beat it down each time it recurred and continued to live her life with passion and joy. Her unwavering strength and kindness was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to many. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Palliative Care and Ward 5A at the General Hospital, where she was recently and the wonderful people at the Allan Blair who have cared for us over the years and her amazing oncologist, Dr. Sandra Rayson, now retired. Donations in Patty’s memory to People for Animals, or the Regina Humane Society, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated. A Celebration of Patty’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. James United Church with Rev. Laura Sundberg officiating.
