Obituary of Charles "Gary" Thompson

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father: Charles “Gary” Thompson of Regina, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  Gary went to his final resting place at the age of 74 years.  He was born October 12, 1944 in Semans, Saskatchewan to Robert and Orma Thompson and was one of four children. Gary received his education at Alexandra and Semans schools.
When reminiscing, he always spoke fondly of the family farm and all of the memories.  After graduation, Gary worked at the Co-op store in Semans until he moved to Regina Sherwood Co-op.  He then went to work at Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) in Regina where he worked for 35 years until retirement.
During this time he married his wife of 52 years, Marlene (nee Decker). The couple remained in Regina where they raised their two children, Jeffrey of Regina and Lori of Edmonton.  Gary’s parents, grandparents, and Marlene’s parents predeceased him.  Gary leaves his loving wife and children along with his siblings, Wayne (Ann) and family of Edmonton, Dayle (Gayle) and family of Red Deer, and Wendy (Dale) of Morinville. Gary also leaves behind numerous extended family members and many good friends. Gary touched many lives with his love, kindness and sense of humor.  A Celebration of Gary’s Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. 3825 Hillsdale Street, Regina, SK.  In lieu of flowers, a trust account has been established to assist with future financial needs of Gary’s son, Jeffery.  Donations can be made to any Affinity Credit Union Branch.
