Obituary of James Arthur Brass
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Arthur (Jim) Brass on December 12th 2022 at the age of 91. We will forever miss our Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle, Brother & friend. He lived life on his terms - staying in his own house until the end (with Howard as his caregiver these past few years)and continuing to garden, cook, drive and go for beers with buddies at the pub.
Dad was a Pioneer with Sasktel starting in 1951 climbing poles as a Lineman and working until his retirement in 1987 in the Head Office in Regina. He loved music and art and these were the cornerstones of our upbringing.
Despite the fact he was 91, we are all devastated. The house on Regina Avenue has been home to us all - kids, grandkids, great grandkids, friends, family & many pets since 1968.
Our values are deeply rooted in being raised in love & kindness.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion Brass, our mom, in August 2016, parents Murray Brass in 1971 & Muriel Brass in 1985. Brothers Oakley & Ron as well as nephews Donald & Calvin & precious Great Granddaughter Cambria in infancy.
He is survived by his children Dana Brass of Saskatoon, Jeff (Roxanne) Brass of Regina & Howard Brass of Regina; grandchildren Jaylene, Jordan (Kim), Amanda (Matthew), Ryan Dean, Lexi Dean & Maxim Nicolas, great grandchildren Aurora, Damian and Grayson; his brother Barry & wife Elaine Brass & numerous nieces, nephews & neighbourhood kids who have grown up knowing him as grandpa too.
At dad's instructions, there will be no funeral, but at a later date, we will celebrate his life in the way he wanted, with drinks, music, jokes and laughter. We will advise people when those plans are clear.
If you wish to donate to a charity in his name, Dad was a champion of Parkinsons & Cancer foundations as well as Carmichael Outreach in Regina.
Please raise a glass for dad & celebrate his amazing life.
In Loving Memory
James Brass
