Obituary of Douglas Lynwood Mader
Golf champion, physics teacher, house builder, handyman, rock hound, avid hunter with Shorthaired Pointers, piano player, Lumsden town councillor, really smart guy, good friend, loving husband to Barbara.
Doug died of complications after a fall while playing pickleball a year ago. He was almost 83. He has driven off into the vast universe with excitement and wonder. May all his shots be true.
Doug is predeceased by his parents Donald F. Mader and Ruth (Mjolid) Mader, by his brother Bob Mader and sister Donaleen Boechler. Her daughters Marlee Burtt, Denise Corbett, Nici Baughman and Andrea Bowling fondly remember their uncle. Doug shared a deep connection with Bob. Their closeness endures through Bob’s daughters Joelle Mader (Brett Stevens and Greta Mader Stevens) and Amy Gates (James, Ben and Hannah).
A Memorial Gathering for Doug Mader will be held on February 19, 2024 at 1:30 pm in Lumsden Centennial Hall. Donations in his memory could be made to Nature Conservancy of Canada.
